What is the best treatment for rosacea?

I seldom have breaking out with my rosacea, but I have a lot of small broken blood vessels on my cheeks. Does anyone know a safe remedy? Is it safe to have a facial...even a deep cleansing facial? Are there products I should avoid using on my face? What is the best treatment for rosacea?
I have rosacea, and have had facials, but have made darned sure that the aesthetician doing them knows I have rosacea, and knows how to treat it. Harsh cleansers, masks, scrubs, etc., are out, they will irritate your skin WAYY too much. I don't even have my blackheads removed anymore, the steam is too irritating for my face. Many salons/day spas even have a facial that's specifically designed to treat rosacea. Until you know what will and won't work, I'd check with my dermatologist before getting anything done, because it's so easy to make it worse without intending to.

I've found a great product that has really worked for me. It's called Calm, Cool and Corrected by DermaDoctor. (And no, I don't work for them). My face looks better since I started using this than it has in probably 15 years. Here's a link.

I get mine at Nordstroms, but I've heard that Sephora also carries it. I think you can also order it directly from the website. What is the best treatment for rosacea?
Rosacea is a skin condition caused when clusters of facial capillaries near the surface of the skin become dilated. The result is a red, inflamed look, usually found on the nose, forehead, cheeks and chin.

Steps:

1. Clean skin gently. Use a mild cleanser and avoid grainy cleaners or anything that can irritate your skin.

2. Wear gentle sunscreen - try one formulated for babies - whenever you go out. The sun can aggravate your condition.

3. Try to stay cool, as heat may aggravate the condition. Stay in a cool, air-conditioned environment on hot, humid days and spray your face with water. Drink cool drinks.

4. Eat foods at room temperature and allow steaming hot beverages to cool down a few degrees before you drink them. This will lessen the effect on your skin.

5. Tone down your use of spices. Hot salsa, curry and chiles can create further inflammation. You don't have to eat your food bland; just lower the spice level and the frequency with which you eat very spicy foods.

6. Avoid saunas, steam baths and hot tubs. Also avoid facial steams.

7. Keep your bath and shower water warm, but not hot. Use water as cool as you can tolerate it.

8. Check your diet. Certain foods may be aggravating the condition. Start keeping a food diary, writing down what you eat and how your face reacts to it.

9. Try using pure aloe vera gel. It can be very soothing and healing. If it irritates your skin, discontinue it.

10. Use primrose oil - 500mg, three times a day. It is helpful in healing many skin disorders.

Tips:

Persistent redness can be treated by a licensed dermatologist with a small electric needle or by laser surgery to close off the dilated blood vessels. You can also cover the area with cosmetics, but be careful that they don't further aggravate your skin.

Warnings:

If symptoms persist or if you have specific medical conditions or concerns, contact a physician. This information is not intended as a substitute for professional medical advice or treatment.
I have rosacea and use 2 things: finaca(topical cream) and get laser facials. They have improved th appearance completely. I don't flare as much and the red is under control.

When you go an aesthetician, they should ask you if there are any conditions/issues they should know--tell them about your rosacea. They are plenty of products for use, and they should know how to use them.

Good luck!

Can rosacea be cured?

No, but it can be treated. Rosacea is a condition that lasts for a long period of time. For most people it tends to get better and then get worse (flare up). Rosacea may get worse over time if it is not treated. Treatment is aimed at controlling the symptoms and making your skin look better.

How is rosacea treated?

The type of medicine your doctor recommends will depend on how your skin looks. Treatment generally works best at improving the pimples and bumps of rosacea. The redness of the skin is harder to treat. Medicines used to treat rosacea include antibiotics, which can be applied to the skin or taken as pills. Your doctor may recommend an oral antibiotic to start with and follow that with an antibiotic gel or cream called metronidazole (one brand name: MetroGel) that you apply to your skin.

It may take up to 2 months of treatment before the skin looks better. As your skin improves, the amount of oral antibiotic you take can often be cut down or stopped. Treatment with the gel may continue. It is hard to know how long you will need treatment for rosacea. Each person's skin is different, and your doctor may want to adjust your treatment.

Surgery may be used to correct rhinophyma. Enlarged blood vessels on your face can sometimes be removed by using a fine electric needle or with laser surgery.

What can I do to help my rosacea get better?

Certain things seem to make rosacea worse. These include sun exposure, hot drinks, alcohol, spicy foods, strenuous exercise, stress, and hot and cold temperatures. If these things make your rosacea worse, you may want to avoid them as much as possible.

Gentle skin care is best, and your doctor may recommend that you use a mild soap and a moisturizer. It is also a good idea to use a sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher on a regular basis.
Look for PULSED DYE LASER..this is a vascular laser. It will specifically target the veins. This is one good laser..believe me ask your dermatologist.
